My name is Gina Riggi, Tower 2 and I’ve come here to ask, what is wrong with Galaxy owners communicating with each other?

Our bylaws state that it is every owner’s responsibility to participate in their association, but how can they, if they have no freedom of communication?

For years, owners requested equal time for rebuttal in Galaxy media, but that was like asking the warden for the keys to the prison.

Without freedom to communicate, owners have no input into their association and no means of rebuttal to defend themselves when smeared by those in power.

Have you ever noticed the tiny cubby slot in your tower lobby entitled Freedom of Speech, that’s court ordered, It came about when Former Owner Ray Bodner, took on the Galaxy in a legal battle for Free Speech. The board spent $130,000 trying to stop him.

Ask yourself, why would the board spend hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years to prevent Freedom of Communication amongst owners?

IT’S ALL ABOUT CONTROL, THE BOARD WANTS TO RETAIN CONTROL AT ANY COST TO THE ASSOCIATION!!

Two years ago the "Concerned Unit Owners Galaxy Group" asked the American Civil Liberties Union to assist Galaxy Owners in their struggle to ensure owners rights to communication. There was no other recourse – our esteemed board simply dismissed COUG’s request.

So far, the board claims that they have spent $200,000 of your money to stop the ACLU, our board will spend as much of your money as possible to make sure

THAT;
Board candidates cannot speak of their campaign issues in the common areas during election time unless sanctioned by the board,

owners have to pay a prohibitive $500.00 rental fee plus $750.00 deposit to hold a meeting of owners in the spa lounge, a room that is already paid for out of your maintenance monies,

owners are allowed only 5 pieces of mail per day left at the concierge desk, that means with 1073 apts. it takes 215 days to call a meeting,

owners must stand in the lobbies or mall for months collecting signatures on a petition, and owners must send expensive mailings to residents costing well over $800.00 each to organize an owners meeting,

Is that freedom of communication?

The board even reached out into cyberspace to control our freedom of communication by sending a legal letter to Yahoo Internet asking to shut down GalaxyFacts.com – the message board run by owners

Remember, even though owners presently have a 2.5 minute opportunity to speak on Ch.26 this glimmer of freedom can be taken away at any moment at the pleasure of the board.
