GLAD - a small group of unknown, unnamed dissidents' desperate attempt to keep their friends, two of the worst "do nothing" Directors in Galaxy history (YES even worse than Harlin Blank), in power so they can continue on their path of destroying the Galaxy values and obstructing the progress of the new Directors. Haase has missed many meetings, votes YES to just about anything and Bolasco reminds me of "MiniMe" an obnoxious clone of Martha Norget. Both appear to be "hell bent" on blocking any attempts of change which the Galaxy desperately needs. Could it be the progressive Directors voted for Bolasco to be Secretary to give her the opportunity to expose to the owners just how incompetent she really is?

We now have a state of the art fire safety system, meeting regulations at every level |
'Suspicious' Fire Kills Woman, Dogs in N.J.
GUTTENBERG, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A four alarm fire broke out in a
highrise apartment building in New Jersey early Tuesday.
1010 WINS Audio: Steve Sandberg Reports
The fire, in apartment 10A on the 10th floor of The Galaxy Highrise
located on 70th Street and Boulevard East in Guttenberg, NJ., started
around 12:30 a.m. and was brought under control around 3:00 a.m.
A young man inside the apartment managed to escape, but a young woman
and her two dogs were killed. Thirty others were evacuated.
Fire Dept Chief Frank Montagne told 1010 WINS, "The firefighters
couldn't even advance on the fire as quickly as they'd like to, they
had a very difficult time moving down the hall," he said. "The
hallway was charred black... the fire was so hot
it actually took chunks of concrete off the walls."
Fire crews are still investigating what caused the fire, which has
been deemed suspicious.

Still investigating Galaxy fire
Victim was daughter of pilot who was killed in Pentagon crash on 9/11
By Jim Hague
Bill Frymer, who lives on the 38th floor in Tower 3 with his wife, said that soon after the fire alarms sounded, he began to smell smoke.
"There was smoke in our apartment, in the hallway," Frymer said. "We were told to stay in place, but those were the famous last words in the World Trade Center on 9/11 as well. It was like déjà vu. It was a little frightening. We heard the commands on the intercom, but we would have loved to hear a human voice instead of the computerized recording. Just to hear something that would give us a clue. We tried to call downstairs to the concierge, but others must have been calling at the same time."
Added Frymer, "There was an enormous amount of smoke coming out of the vents and into our apartment. My wife got so terrified. She called 911 and they said to stay there and put a wet towel over our heads. I know the Fire Department did the best they could. We then opened the windows and stuck our heads out to breathe."

The lobby project is now moving along. The new Directors have no answers on how to speed up the process |
Could this be because Haase and Bolasco’s poor decisions have made it impossible to speed up the process? Absolutely!
The lobby project started in September of 2006 and will not be completed until July of 2008 MAYBE!

Our amenities and services have been maintained |
My name is Elayna Center. I used to be proud to own at the Galaxy…that was before tyranny and mismanagement struck.
Did you know that in 1991 the Galaxy was named in a book titled “The 99 Best Residential Communities in America”?
Look at us now. HARD TO BELIEVE, isn’t it?
The Spa…I use the stinking, broken down, dirty, dripping, Spa every day.
Three weeks ago I saw a group of 9 people at the pool. 8 were guests. A few days later when I was able to talk to Jude he asked me why I didn’t say anything while I was at the pool. That’s right, I’m supposed to stop in the middle of my swim, run upstairs dripping wet and report a problem that the Receptionist and Lifeguards should have addressed.
Lifeguards…At that time I reported to Lifeguard Marcia that the guest dove into the pool. I asked her to please let him know that diving is not allowed in the indoor pool. I swam for 20 minutes and Marcia never got off her lazy butt to say anything.
Lazy Butts…They abound here, in all Departments!
For years I’ve asked Jude to have the outdoor pool tiles cleaned at least 3 times a week. Hank can you zoom in on this? (filthy paper towel with black grease from the pool tiles is held up) Obviously my pleas go unheeded.
Our beautiful new pool deck which was finished a month ago is already defective. The surface is cracking. Yet another job that has not been done right the first time.
We have a massive algae problem in the indoor pool that I have complained to Jude about for months. Employees throw the automatic vacuums into the pools and disregard the perpetual crop of algae that is festering and eating up the pool finish. God forbid that any Spa Employee should use a hard bristle brush to manually clean the pools, that is until I threatened the Board in writing during mid June that I would report the Galaxy Spa to the Local Health Department and the State if the problem was not cleaned up by June 30th.
This brings me to our Spa Committee Chairperson who has been in office way too long and is part of the problem. The Galaxy must institute term limitations for Committee Chairpeople and Directors. Fresh blood produces fresh ideas which must be induced into the Galaxy. Dinosaurs with archaic ideas and personal prejudices must be allowed to become extinct.
Martha Norget and Allan Ellinger, Galaxy Presidents, past and present, your legacy is Susan Fitzpatrick and the destruction of our wonderful homes at the Galaxy. I hope you are proud of yourselves and the substandard management situation that you have forced on us for years.

TO: GTCA Board of Directors
Ms. Susan Fitzpatrick
RE: The Sorry State of 10
Dear Directors and Ms. Fitzpatrick,
For six months, the people on the 10th Floor in Tower III have been living with bare light bulbs in cages by the elevators and unpainted, uncovered, half-primed walls everywhere else.
Have you forgotten about us?
The fire was in December. Of 2006. Today we are in May. Of 2007. So it appears, sadly, that our esteemed management cannot replace a light fixture or paint a hall in six months. I realize this is par for the course here - the famous "Galaxy Way" of doing things - but I think it's a sure bet that if this abomination was on one of your floors, it would have been taken care of by now.
During this time, according to your prolific and ubiquitous construction updates, progress continues everywhere but on Ten. Work in the Garage goes forward, however haltingly. I respectfully ask, are there people now living in the Garage?
We are proudly informed the interior stairwell in T-III has been painted from top to bottom. I respectfully ask, do we have tenants living in the stairwells?
Work on the outdoor pool continues. Are families residing in the pool?
Last night, we heard about all the fabulous things planned for us, such as spending about a quarter of a million dollars on the Spa Locker Room, among other completely unnecessary crap. If the Locker Room is going to be repainted, can we move in there?
Have you forgotten you have real people living on Ten? Do you think this is a disgrace?
I pay $1600 a month maintenance, and it is a slap in my face - as well as to the faces of the other residents on Ten - every time I take the elevator, go to the garage, throw out the garbage, or step out my door.
I want to know why our esteemed management feels it is just fine to treat the residents on Ten like second class citizens.
After waiting six long months, I see that in order to get anything done here, one must take matters into one's own hands. To this end, I will be buying paint shortly and will redo the walls myself. If you would like to consult with me on color choice, I am available.
Sincerely,
Luane Spingola

TO: The BOD and Ms. Fitzpatrick
CC: Residents of Ten in T-III
RE: The Sheer Hell of Living on the Tenth Floor in T-III
Dear Board of Directors and Ms. Fitzpatrick,
I was present at the BOD meeting last night, and once again, I was completely and totally amazed. When Mr. Lerner brought up the above-referenced subject, and thank you, Mr. Lerner, for doing so, the amount of verbal dancing and spin was extreme and expected. But what was really awesome was the way you, Ms. Fitzpatrick, out-and-out lied not only to our residents, but also to the Board.
Now, it's personal. As an owner in good standing for nearly a quarter of a century, I am entitled to, and therefore demand, an explanation.
For those Directors who do not read their E-mails from their constituents, whether because of time constraints or a lack of interest, some background:
The Tenth Floor has been in shambles since December of 2006. Bare light bulbs; unpainted, unprimed, uncovered walls of many hues; unmatched, disgusting carpeting. As I said yesterday, if this abomination was on your floor, we probably wouldn't be having this discussion.
Yesterday I wrote to Ms. Fitzpatrick, and to all of you, asking for action and an explanation. After all, half a year has passed since the fire. Ms. Fitzpatrick kindly offered to show me the new swatches.
I don't want to see the new swatches. After six months, I want to be able to walk down my hall without wearing a haz-mat suit.
You, Ms. Fitzpatrick, wrote back immediately to say materials were ordered several weeks ago, and again extended your thoughtful invitation to come look at materials already ordered and therefore not up for discussion.
I wrote back and quoted the GM's memo of January 25th, which stated repairs were starting on January 29th and permanent carpeting had been ordered as of that date. Your answer, Ms. Fitzpatrick, was another kind invitation to come up and look at the swatches.
Last night, you, Ms. Fitzpatrick, lied not only to the residents but to the BOD. I do not make this accusation lightly. January 25th, you stated the materials were already ordered. Yesterday, the story changed: you stated the materials were ordered 4 to 8 weeks ago.
Which is it? Or is either statement true?
Mr. Ellinger, at the R&R meeting you stated unequivocally that we do not do projects more than once. Please explain, then, or please direct your esteemed GM to explain to the residents how carpet could have been ordered in January according to Ms. Fitzpatrick's memo, and also ordered 4 to 8 weeks ago, according to Ms. Fitzpatrick's statement last night. Have we paid twice for phantom carpeting?
Everyone complains about the Lobbies and the Garage. The residents on Ten have to put up with that, as well as the eyesore that greets us every time we step out of the elevators. It's not just the carpeting; it is the walls and the bare light bulbs as well. I believe you, as our General Manager and our elected Directors, owe the residents on Ten more than an explanation at this point. I think a rebate on our maintenance is the least you could offer us. We have suffered more than the rest of the Galaxy for the last six months. I request compensation.
As I told Ms. Fitzpatrick yesterday, I am ready to take matters into my own hands. What other recourse is there? I know we have cash flow problems, and I do not, I repeat, do not want to involve my lawyer. The Board cannot paint a wall in six months - but I can. I am thinking either hot pink or puce. Ms. Fitzpatrick tells me not to take matters into my own hands; she will have to charge me for any damage I do.
Well, come to Ten and look around - the damage has been done, and we've been living in it for six months. I am prepared to paint, and I have offers of help from other residents. If you are forced to charge me, so be it. If it gets some action, it is money well spent. After all, $1600 in maintenance fees is getting me nowhere.
I look forward to your reply.
Sincerely,
Luane Spingola

True! Thanks to Fini and Slava who initiated the move to outside management!
Bolasco and Haase always seemed quite happy with the former manager. As a matter of fact, they voted YES for her return in 2006!

Could be 2009 !
The good news is; tonight I noticed the concrete pads and bricks are completed in front of the Tower 1 entrance. The bad news is; I went down to the lower mall by the tower 1 elevator and noticed a leak, the same leak as always, directly under the Tower 1 entrance. The yellow garbage pale was about half full and the water was still coming down from the ceiling.
I was too depressed to look into the gray garbage pale.
Great job again Directors! that would be you Norget, Ellinger, Blank, Haase and Bolasco! I can't wait to hear your BS story for this one. 4 years, 5 engineers, 2 or 3 contractors, and 10 million bucks later and you still have the same leak |

Here is my opinion on the GLAD letter dated 10/23/07. If they feel so strongly about the future of the Galaxy why are they so weak that they cannot sign a letter so we know who they are.
It appears to me that Donald Duck could do a better job then the present board.
Sincerely,

Hi, those GLAD folks, or as I like to call them, the "moonies of the Galaxy"
those GLAD folks "somehow" got my email address. I heard they got the owners list from the Galaxy Executive Council Chair People and Gerry Drescheff who use the Galaxy owners list for their own ends, is that true?
Anyhow, they are like the "Moonies" all hyped up on the Cool Aid and trying to drug us new owners. They like to brainwash us retired people and I am sick of being harrassed in the spa by them.
If they email or call me one more time, I am going to file harrassment complaints if I can identify the little weasels since they are too afraid to identify themselves. |
